Startup Weekend Perth coming to Spacecubed
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is a non-profit organisation, based out of Seattle, Washington, but Startup Weekend facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world, and have held over 400 events in 100 cities since 2011. The organisation is a grassroot movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of start ups and how to launch successful ventures.
All Startup Weekends follow the same model – anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. The group then votes for the top ideas and groups form around these ideas for the weekend. Its then 54 hours of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend rounds off with presentation in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with more opportunity for feedback.
Startup Weekend is coming to Perth in September for the weekend of September 7, and is going to be held in Spacecubed! The break up of attendees backgrounds is roughly 50% technical (developers, coders, designers) and 50% business (marketing, finance, law). All attendees are united by their common interest in entrepreneurship, whether they be a serial entrepreneur or new to the scene. Throughout the weekend, the entrepreneurs may found a new company, find a new organisation member, meet someone new or learn a new life skill, but each attendee is guaranteed to leave Startup Weekend better prepared to navigate the world of startups.
