oZAPP Awards Roadshow hits Spacecubed
The oZAPP Awards Roadshow came to Spacecubed on Friday, September 7, and saw over 100 attendees pile in to Spacecubed to hear from Bill Tai, oZAPP Awards Judging Panel Chair and SiliconValley venture capitalist. The oZAPP Awards is a competition to identify Australias best mobile app concept, with the winners attracting significant resources to build and launch their apps. The Awards aim to foster dialogue and collaboration between innovators, researchers, investors and industry, and to further stimulate innovative business culture around Australia.
The oZAPP Roadshow saw Bill Tai, of River City Ventures, discuss smart phones, business apps and tech startups in Australia. Bill has a track record of 19 IPO’s and has embraced Australia’s progressive start up industry. He has funded many local companies, such as Bubble Gum interactive, Posse.com, Pygg.co, and Shoes of Prey.
When Bill was in Spacecubed, he spoke about commercialisation and was able to provide some valuable insight into the risks that investors should take into account before investing in Apps. He also explained how the Cloud was the new infrastructure, with the Smartphone the new platform for Apps. To view photos of the Roadshow in Spacecubed follow to the oZAPP Awards Facebook.
While Bill Tai was in Spacecubed, he was able to meet up with last years winners of the awards, who are also Spacecubed members, Big Help Mob.
With Australia developing a vibrant culture of technical innovation and with a prolific number of startups drawing national and international investment, the oZAPP Awards is Australia’s largest app competition searching for the nation’s best new mobile application.
