Member Profile : Linh Le – TEDxPerth
Who are you and what are you doing?
I’m currently wearing a number of different hats while kicking around Perth: independent management consultant, tech startup entrepreneur (more to be revealed about what I’m baking in the oven in time!) and director of TEDxPerth. I’m also a former investment banker with Azure Capital and a recently minted MBA from Harvard Business School.
About TEDxPerth: TEDxPerth is being managed by a new creative team in 2012 and we’re working towards a day-long conference in November 2012. For those not familiar with TED and TEDx, TED is a non-profit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, ideas that have the power to change how we view and live in the world and spark deep debate and discussion on issues of the day. TEDxPerth is an independent, locally-organised event where we hope to bring people together in a TED-like experience.
What do you want to get from this community?
For TEDxPerth – any help we can get with bringing it together: volunteers, thoughts on interesting speakers, sponsors.
For the startup I’m working on – war stories from those that have been down this path before (particularly in Australia / Perth), as well as connections to people and talent (devs and designers), as the need arises.
What can you give to this community?
A sounding board for new business ideas or business problems – I’m a generalist management consultant with a strong investment-banking skill-set (think financial modelling, help with deal structuring, business and industry analysis) interested in solving business problems.
Why did you start your project / organisation?
From a TEDxPerth perspective, I think there’s a lot of awesome stuff going on in Perth, from across the arts, entertainment & culture, science & technology, entrepreneurship, social enterprise and within the grassroots community. I think there needs to be a forum (such as TEDxPerth) for this awesome-ness to be showcased and expressed, as well as to inspire others with the great stuff going on in this city and the community… and shaking the ‘inferiority complex’ that, at times, Perth has.
Technology & innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, doing good while doing well… and the psychology of happiness.
And, more generally, doing what I can to help ‘connect the dots’ and help others realise their passions (especially while I’m kicking around my hometown).
