Dave is WA’s 2013 Rhodes Scholar. By the time they are 15 the average indigenous and rural students are 2 and 1.5 school years behind respectively.

In 2011 he co-founded TLG (Teach Learn Grow Inc.) designed to inspire students to learn and providing them with tuition and resources to do so.

He was a recipient of a UWA Fogarty Scholarship and President of the Fogarty Scholars’ Association. He is also a Georgian. Dave will be talking about leadership, TLG and education in WA.

What do you want to get from this community?

Spacecubed provides a network of like minded innovative individuals. The ideas, conversations and workshops will be invaluable.

What can you give to this community?

I’d like to share ideas and experiences with like minded individuals.

Why did you start your organisation?

TLG’s Mission Statement:
“TLG (Teach Learn Grow Inc.) provides tutoring and mentoring services free of charge to rural, indigenous and socioeconomically deprived Western Australian students, with the aim of overcoming poverty and disadvantage through education. The services focus on consolidating a student’s knowledge and inspiring a student’s interest in education, with a view to ensure the full potential of the student is realised.”

What is your passion?

“Where you’re born in your country still does so much to determine your educational prospects and in turn your life prospects.”– Wendy Kopp, Founder of Teach for America

I am intent on following a career focused on closing the education gap, with the aim of working alongside other like-minded individuals to inspire Australia and the International community to move to ensure that an individual’s life prospects are not restricted by their place of birth.”
